THE RESIDENCE MALDIVES, REVIEWED BY INDIGO, 11 YEARS OLD
My Maldives journey started on a propeller plane with my parents and my little brother. It was a pretty 1-hour flight. When we landed, the kind staff gave us a hand with our luggage and bags. They could be easily spotted and were really helpful. And of course, did everything with a huge smile!
On the ride to the boat, I thought I might starve after our long journey, but the staff gave me a yummy fresh drink. They cared so much about our safety and asked us to put life jackets on. It was one of the best boat rides I have been on.
One of my favourite things to do is eat and there were so many places to go, but my favourite was the fancy French restaurant – The Fulhumaa – over the water.
Don’t get me started on the different buffet choices for breakfast, it was amazing. I loved meeting all the different staff, they always had big smiles on their faces. My parents had an unlimited food package, which meant we could eat whenever we wanted! The restaurants, cafes and bars were so good! Should you go there? You definitely should. Everything was delicious and I loved the freedom to be able to take my little brother on our own adventure, tasting some of the treats mum and dad would usually say no to!
I loved the snorkelling, there were fish galore! We snorkelled for hours every day. The turtles were so beautiful and the reef priceless. And we could do it straight from the beach!
The fishing was so fun too, I caught a Barracuda and the chef cooked it for lunch the next day. It was the best fish I’ve ever had.
The tubing was really fun and a little bit scary. I fell off once, but I felt safe because the boat driver immediately stopped and rescued me. It was epic and exciting. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life as my brother and I bounced across the water like a yo-yo.
After this, I felt sore after tubing, so my dad told me I could have the massage he had booked. I felt so lucky. During the massage, the room was nice and cool. It felt heavenly.
I really enjoyed the freedom my parents gave me, as I could check in and out of the Kids Club on my own and sign up to the activities, such as the cooking class we did with the chef. We got to visit where all of the cooking was done for the entire island and we made delicious cupcakes – which my dad ate.
I felt so grateful and so lucky to be able to stay on such a paradise island. I now have memories for the rest of my life from our incredible family holiday at The Residence Maldives.
