Raffles Hotel is a colonial-style luxury oasis situated in the heart of Singapore. The hotel’s rich history and perfectly preserved colonial architecture made it a true icon of the city. We stayed at one of the Palm Court Suites that’s overlooking a huge water fountain and a lush garden lined with soaring palm trees. The room features a high ceiling with elegant period furnitures, a spacious bedroom and a separate living and study area with our own mini fridge and Nespresso machine. A massive marble-tiled bathroom with separate shower and bathtub, dual washbasins and classic looking water armatures. The room has basically everything! If ever you need something not in your room, a 24-hour butler service is available with one touch of a button.
Having our holidays spent at Raffles Hotel in Singapore, I can’t believe I was just right next to one of the city’s busiest streets. I couldn’t hear the loud car engines or the heavy foot traffic. The hotel grounds were also flawless and the gardens were enchanting that we went for a stroll of the entire place quite a few times. Although Raffles Hotel is currently undergoing renovation, the management designed it thoughtfully to ensure that guests won’t be affected by any disruption from the noise or the builders. It is a undoubtedly a green oasis in the city.
We ate breakfast at different parts of the hotel everyday. We had it first in-suite, at the rooftop pool and the Tiffin Room. We didn’t have to worry about arranging it, our private butler Yu Jun made all the arrangements. We also enjoyed every sip of their famous Singapore Sling while brushing peanut shells off the bar-top at the Billiard Room. The bartender said it is only place in Singapore where littering is encouraged!
On our last day, we opted for a Sunday Champagne Brunch at the Raffles Grill where they offer an extensive and delicious menu that includes pan-fried foie gras, 4 types of oysters, lobster, freshly baked breads and a selection of desserts complemented by a free-flowing champagne. The price tag is on the higher side but it’s definitely worth every penny.
I was blown away with the charisma of Raffles Hotel Singapore and its exceptional staff. Raffles made our short stay in Singapore perfect from beginning to end. If ever you’re in Singapore and you want a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of the metro, Raffles can provide that peaceful retreat you need.
