Embark on a journey along Sri Lanka’s west coast with Australian model and frequent traveller @sullivang_ and read all about her favourite places to stay and the most beautiful beach you cannot miss!
Day 1: Ceilao Villas Colombo Hotel
The minute we arrived we embraced finally being at a hotel with amazing breakfast being served after missing our flight in KL we were exhausted and starving! We were greeted by the most delightful staff that catered to our every need! Unfortunately we didn’t end up getting to stay at this delightful hidden away gem of a hotel but it was a nice welcome to Sri Lanka stop.
Day 2: Aditya Resort
Where do I start with this place, we were blown away with this glorious luxurious resort. We were treated to the penthouse and I could happily stay there and not leave for weeks. We dined like kings for 3 days, the breakfast buffet is hands down the best breakfast we’ve had at any hotel, ever! Make sure you try their homemade bread basket – I’m drooling at the thought. Everything on their lunch & dinner menu is amazing, and the staff are divine! They were so friendly and helpful we couldn’t fault anything!
While staying at beautiful Aditya we did venture to Hikkaduwa beach but we do recommend waiting to explore more beautiful beaches when you travel further south.
Day 3: W 15 Weligama
An hour or so south from Hikkaduwa hidden away lays W15. This little hotel is a beautiful relaxing place to stay. With only a few rooms its always quiet surrounded by palm trees and wildlife! Monkeys constantly playing on your roof and swinging from tree to tree while you eat your breakfast by the pool.
The staff are incredibly helpful organizing day trips or dinners at their other hotel down the road and do seafood bbqs by the pool once a week!
Day 4: W 15 Weligama
We woke up early and organized a tuk tuk to Mirrisa beach and instantly fell in love. Mirrisa was a long stretch of beautiful coastline, no litter in site and not overcrowded. We relaxed by the ocean all day under the shade of palm trees and we were very content.
We visited a café a few meters away from the beach that had a delicious menu of smoothie bowls and avo on toast and I would highly recommend. We came back to Mirrisa Beach for sunset and ate dinner at Zephyrs. The fish was amazing! This is a must when visiting this area.
Day 5: W 15 Weligama
After a wonderful sleep in & treated to a delicious breakfast at W15 we said our goodbyes and ventured another hour or so south with a driver to Hiriketiya Beach.
Again this beach topped the last beach with even less people and the bluest water and the most beautiful scenery. A beautiful little bay surrounds you with palm trees on every side of you as far as your eye can see. There are a few little cafes on the beach you can eat at when you get peckish after swimming for hours. There are so many friendly happy dogs to keep you company while laying in the sun, which I love!
This beach was definitely my favorite on this trip!
Day 6: Galle Fort
Normally I am not a huge fan of touristy things but we were recommended this place numerous times over our travels and I’m so glad we spent our last day here. This place is beautiful! It was made in the 1700s but British Columbia and is now taken over by amazing little restaurants, cafés, so many beautiful gift stores and much more!
If you need to buy any souvenirs or gifts, this is where you do it. I bought amazing jewelry and leather goods! We also got a massage for 90 minutes while here and it was heaven! We also stumbled across a café called Crepeology and you have to go inside! Some of the best crepes I’ve ever eaten and I eat a lot of them. Try the gluten free, chocolate and banana with homemade vanilla ice cream. You’ll be going back for seconds, trust me.
After this we started our 3 hour journey to the airport and were extremely sad to leave, we could have definitely spent a few more days even weeks travelling this beautiful untouched island. We will definitely be back!
