Nestled in the heart of the Mayan jungle, Atik is a breathtaking natural park that provides an unforgettable experience. In addition to the stunning nature that surrounds it, the park boasts a variety of aquatic and art installations that will leave you in awe.
Situated just a few kilometers from Tulum on the way to Coba, this cenote is known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant underwater life. Although it bears the name “Gran Cenote,” it’s actually comprised of several cenotes interconnected by wooden walkways. The water is so clear that even without snorkeling, you can easily spot fish swimming around. Gran Cenote is one of the top spots for snorkeling, with a plethora of underwater life visible.
Cenote Calavera resembles a skull when viewed from above, with two small holes serving as eyes, and a large hole as the mouth, and is one of over 6,000 found in the Yucatan Peninsula. The cenote is filled with “halocline” water, which is a combination of freshwater and saltwater. Although the cenote is located near the ocean, the saltwater and freshwater do not mix but exist in layers, similar to oil and water.
