The most distinct architectural design of Kata Rocks Phuket is the white-on-white, from white linens to the iconic white umbrellas shading white sunbeds overlooking a white tiled pool.
GETTING TO KATA ROCKS PHUKET
We were greeted by a wide-grinned Kata Rocks Phuket liaison representative the moment we stepped into the arrivals area at Phuket international airport. My parents-in-law, husband and 2 young children were whisked away into a modern air-conditioned people-mover with luxurious leather seats, cold refreshments, nibbles, wifi, and the best best part a flat-screen TV that popped up to entertain the children for the 45-minute journey from the airport to Kata Beach.
The road trip seemed like a breeze compared to other transits we’ve had with the kids in the past, and before we blinked we were pulling into a small road which was the steep entrance to the very lavish and all-white architecture of one of the most luxurious hotels in Phuket, Kata Rocks!
The friendly Kata Rocks Phuket staff greeted us with big smiles in the air-conditioned reception and we participated in a traditional welcome ceremony where we were all given gorgeous scented lavender flowers and our hands were splashed with scented water. Once check-in was complete we were given a mini tour around the resort in little golf buggies before being dropped to our spectacular 2-bedroom private infinity pool with ocean views over the Andaman Sea.
KATA ROCKS PHUKET, LUXURY HOTEL IN PHUKET
Designed to give you the sensation of floating on a luxury yacht, Kata Rock’s exterior design has the futuristic nautical influence of a superyacht, with tinted glass windows framed with sleek aerofoil louvre panels that wrap around the buildings on three sides. This distinctive architecture has won the luxurious hotel in Phuket many accolades, including being named as one of the ’25 Best Hotels in Southeast Asia’ by Conde Nast Travelers, and the prestigious title of ‘Best Apartment in the World’ at the International Property Awards.
The most distinct architectural design of Kata Rocks Phuket is the white-on-white, from white linens to the iconic white umbrellas shading white sunbeds overlooking a white tiled pool. Who needs Greece or Ibiza, when you have the luxurious Kata Rocks in Phuket!
The main 35-metre infinity swimming pool with west facing sunset views has a stylish poolside bar with chic furnishings. Located on the cliff-side between Kata Beach and Kata Noi, it’s no wonder it’s quickly making a name for itself as one of Phuket’s most fashionable resorts.
KATA ROCKS PHUKET, OCEAN VIEW PRIVATE POOL VILLAS & RESIDENCES
There are 34 pool villas at Kata Rocks that all boast stunning infinity pool views of the Andaman Sea. The villas are uber-stylish, all featuring large terraces, and innovation plays a key role – with software allowing guests to control the villa lighting, temperature, music, blinds and service requests from an in-villa iPad. Each villa also provides unlimited 4G mobile phone which we found very useful to carry with us when we were exploring outside of the resort.
THE BEST SUNSET RESTAURANT IN PHUKET
Located right behind Kata Rocks Phuket’s iconic infinity pool with breathtaking sunset views, it’s not hard to see why the Kata Rocks restaurant continues to win awards for its excellence.
The restaurant serves seasonally inspired Mediterranean cuisine featuring regional gourmet twists with a Spanish accent. The restaurant’s chef is from Spain and it is there that she honed her culinary talents at 2 Michelin Star restaurants.
If you’re craving Thai food, the restaurant is also known as being the best Thai restaurant in Phuket, with their famous Tom Yum Eggs Benedict for breakfast and healthy and light Thai dishes for lunch.
If your mouth is already watering, I won’t dare to mention their hidden wine cellar under the pool with Phuket’s best wine cellar, with over 300 wines and 24 different bottles by the glass on offer. You can also participate in cheese and wine tasting classes.
And if a wine isn’t your thing, they also offer a Bespoke Gin Experience with some of the finest and most refreshing gin cocktails I’ve ever tasted.
TAC Tip: Find out when Kata Rocks Phuket is hosting their famous brunch available on the last Saturday of the month. You’ll indulge in a feast of the most delicious seafood with the most spectacular views in Phuket.
THE FAMOUS SPA AT KATA ROCKS PHUKET
I treated myself to a 60-minute Thai massage at The Infinite Luxury Spa and it was a treatment I will remember for a long time. The well-trained therapists will personalise your experience based on a quick private assessment before your treatment.
The award-winning luxury spa in Phuket has 8 luxury treatment rooms offering over 30 unique treatments from traditional Thai massage, facials with the natural “ILA’ spa products and chromotherapy, to Iso-Benessere, a water massage bed and Metronap, to enhance recovery and reduce jetlag.
KATA ROCKS PHUKET – HIDDEN KIDS CLUB
The Kids Club was our biggest surprise when we arrived at Kata Rocks. Just below the famous infinity pool was a hidden Kids Club, down only a few stairs and less than 10 metres from your table at the restaurant. It is a brilliant concept and all restaurants should have a similar set-up to allow parents to truly relax on their holiday.
We enjoyed sunset cocktails during the children’s dinner and were able to put them down into the Kid’s Club while we enjoyed our own 5-star feast. The kids were excited to go downstairs where they were entertained by the resort’s caring nanny staff, with arts and crafts, a huge chalkboard, mini-playground with a small slide, toys and more toys.
It is also very handy to have access to this kid’s club during the heat of the day so you can still enjoy sunning yourself on the water daybeds with a cocktail in hand.
OUR KATA ROCKS PHUKET EXPERIENCE
Combining the 5-star services of a luxury hotel with a spacious modern villa, was a match made in heaven. I enjoyed the attention to every detail with the smaller resort experience. You at times felt as if you had the resort to yourself, soaking up the sea breeze and the sounds of the waves crashing on the rocks from your private pool villa. But if you wanted some atmosphere you could head to the sunset lounge bar with DJ tunes and some of the best solo live music I’ve come across.
The food was outstanding, the ambience was relaxing and the views exceptional. With the photogenic umbrellas in the foreground, it’s hard to resist picking up your camera as the sky changes in colour, from different shades of blue to orange and pink.
The kids loved their active pool time, our walk, swim and surf at nearby Kata Beach and their downtime in the Kids Club. The award-winning Kata Rocks Phuket spa was a highlight, as well the fresh seafood, the Thai prawns and locally produced Gin.
The staff were attentive to our every need, creating a holiday we will remember for a very long time. The architecture was spectacular and unique, the rooms were modern and innovative, and overall Kata Rocks Phuket definitely deserves its accolades as the most romantic and luxurious boutique hotel in Phuket.
